Of course we do! Everybody has a "philosophy of
life." Something that guides them in the living thereof. Some people don't
realize they do. If they say they have no philosophy of life, THAT is their
philosophy. Most people who think they have no philosophy DO have one, but
don't realize what it is and can't put it into words. But it is there and can
be extracted if the right questions are asked. Objectivism is a philosophy. But
is one that is rejected by those who refuse to accept the Ayn Rand
Institute's contention that Objectivism must be practiced AS IS, with no
changes allowed. That is "cult-like," and SHOULD be rejected. Real
Objectivism is that preached and practiced by the Atlas Society, where
they admit that Objectivism is NOT "complete" as is, and CAN be changed
as new FACTS are found. This is "Kelley Objectivism," and that's the
philosophy to which I subscribe. ARI is well known to "excommunicate" those who disagree with their ideas, and force people to do likewise if they want to associate with them. Those of you who are ARI Objectivists, don't
bother to write to take me to task because we must "agree to
disagree." I am not, and cannot be, an ARI Objectivist. (William Thomas)
