The "Horror Candidacy"

Some pundits are saying Hillary could "push her way" onto the Democrat ticket as vice-president. How frightening that is! Two dedicated socialists on the same ticket! I thought we'd be in trouble with ONE dedicated socialist in the presidency, but it's a lot worse to think of dedicated socialists in both offices. Boy! I'm sure glad I probably won't live long enough to see the result. The bad thing is, my children and grandchildren will. (Real Clear Politics)

"Political Con-Artistry"

This is one of the things most politicians recognize, but will not admit, on pain of death; that they "tailor" their messages for the crowds to whom they're talking today, hoping others aren't "paying attention. " And they're right. For the most part, they AREN'T "paying attention." That's why politicians get away with it. " 'Second, successful politicians must behave duplicitously.' Here's Broder: 'Since McCain effectively cinched his nomination in February and mostly fell out of the news, he has accomplished a lot. He has targeted potential constituencies with appearances and messages tailored for them, knowing that other voters probably are not paying attention.' Broder casually adds that 'Obama needs to do similar work.' This isn't leadership; it's cowardly con-artistry." (Café Hayek)

Don't Ask!

The way politicians want us to act is simple: "Don't ask questions." "Leave us alone to steal your money and power as we wish." When we actually DO "ask questions," they "go ballistic" and accuse us of "going on a fishing expedition." So what? Maybe we NEED to go on a "fishing expedition" from time to time and find out what they're hiding from us in their "closed meetings" and "private dinners." When they whine the most, it tells me there's really something wrong. Maybe they DO need another audit in Thurston County, Washington, this time digging a lot deeper than before. Teddy's In the Hospital

He may be dying. Should all the doctors and nurses "swim away" and leave him to die, as he did his pregnant girlfriend at Chappaquiddick? I'm sorry. I have no sympathy for this jerk, who has always been a jerk to me, even before he did this. I remember a "died-in-the-wool" Democrat of the time, crowing over the fact that Kennedy had "only lost ONE PERCENT in the polls" because of Chappaquiddick!" I wanted to punch him. This told me a lot about liberal Democrats, just when I was beginning to learn about them. I just sat through a half hour of people "spinning" Kennedy's "career," saying nothing but "good things" about him, with not a single mention of Chappaquiddick or his tendency to make a "waitress sandwich" with his rich, rowdy friends, his alcoholism and its affect on his politics, and his adherence to socialism. Somebody needs to put things in perspective. They're treating him like a "head of state" who has just died (even Fox). It's like Kennedy in the hospital is the ONLY news out there.

Socialism Doesn't Work

One advantage we, as Americans, have is the power to watch various states and municipalities that rely on socialistic notions go bankrupt. Of course, what usually happens is that the feds usually "bail them out" so they can continue. The same thing works in international politics. One socialistic nation "goes bankrupt" (Such as Cuba) and is "bailed out" by another (Venezuela) so they can survive a little longer. Venezuela is able to "bail them out" because it has all that stolen oil money they got by "nationalizing" the oil industry in their country after "oil companies" found and drilled for the oil. One day, Venezuela will be in "desperate straits," as well, as Chavez spends more and more money making enemies out of powerful capitalist countries who will one day stop "propping HIM up" after he has squandered all the oil money he stole.
