Obama's "Special Interests"

He SAYS he'll "get rid of the special interests." But will he get rid of his own "special interests?" There are many people in Chicago benefiting from the subsidies Ethanol development enjoys,  even though it makes much more of an "energy footprint" to make Ethanol than it ever did to make gasoline from oil. Yet his friends still sponsor legislation and regulations that make it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find, and refine gasoline from oil. Will "special interests" ever be gone from [politics? No. Only the "special interests" of "the other side." That's the way it works in Washington, and elsewhere. (Common Sense)

I knew it Would Happen

When I quit smoking twenty years ago after smoking for 45 years, I didn't do it because I believed the "anti-smoking Nazis' " propaganda about "second-hand smoke." I did it because I foresaw what was coming and I wanted no part of it. I've always said they would find a way to stop people from smoking in their own homes, and now they've done it. The court upheld it, and other judges (themselves anti-smoking Nazis) will use this ruling to back up their own rulings against smoking ANYWHERE. It will spread across the nation like wildfire, and soon NOBODY will be able to smoke, ANYWHERE. (To quote a dead author the government murdered for his views) Never mind it's "nobody's business if you do." If they don't like the smell, no matter how slight, they BAN it. Never mind a now-suppressed WHO (World Health Organization) report that said second-hand smoke was NOT dangerous to anybody's health. And in Belmont City (California, where else?) they've banned smoking ANYWHERE in the city. (Denver News 7

DC Flouts Supreme Court

Now that the Supremes have said DC's ages-old gun ban is unconstitutional, DC is now trying to pass a NEW one that reads much the same way, which they hope will stand until the Supremes get around to declaring THAT one unconstitutional in 10 or 20 years. Then they'll pass another ordinance and hope the Supremes will again wait fifteen or twenty years to get around to declaring it unconstitutional. This is how local governments "get around" their ordinances and laws being declared unconstitutional. (Hometown Annapolis)

Smoke and Mirrors

The FBI (probably after a "suggestion" from Chuckie Schumer) is now "investigating" IndyMac for fraud (as if that might have been the cause of the bank's failure), to deflect attention from Chuckie's involvement in STARTING the multi-million dollar run that really caused it (Which he vehemently denies). They already had a handle on the unsecured loans the government pressured them to make, but when Chuckie publicly "wondered" about how strong they were, he CREATED the run that killed them. But he doesn't want you to know that, so now the FBI is "going through the motions" of an "investigation." They might even FIND some fraud, which had nothing to do with the bank's failure, but that's not the purpose of the "investigation." (CBS News)

Who's To Blame for Everything?

George Bush. That's Nancy Pelosi's opinion. "Everything bad is George Bush's fault." Even if the "problem" had nothing to do with him, it's his fault. What is she going to do when Bush is out of office and can't be blamed for everything bad? This woman, who is called "the worst speaker in House history" shows her ignorance every time she opens her mouth. How do people like this get into positions of power? Scams and schemes and people who "don't pay attention to politics" and are thus gullible enough to "buy" the bull manure she spouts. I'd be glad to see her leave but for one thing: we'll probably get someone just as ignorant to replace her when she goes. (Ann Coulter)

"We Can't Drill Our Way Out of This!"

That's the Democrat mantra on how to "solve" the fuel price crisis, usually followed by a pitch for the use of "alternative fuels" that have yet to be proven. Meanwhile they chant "It'll take at least ten years for this to show any results," so we shouldn't even TRY it. What if we'd have done what they decry TEN YEARS AGO? We'd be seeing results NOW! So if it won't show results for ten years we should ignore it? How many years will it take for THEIR ideas to work, if ever? The fact is, we CAN "drill our way out of this." How the hell do they think we GET all the oil we are using today? By DRILLING for it, that's how! Even their EXCUSES make no sense! But they think they do. (Just common sense)
