We're Drowning and Congress Goes on Vacation!

I shudder every time I go to the gas pump and the very people who CAUSED the high gasoline prices and who could SOLVE the problem if they would, want to go on vacation for a MONTH, on "our nickel." Yes, I know, they have to pay their own airfare, but I know as well as anybody else that they figure out some way to get "reimbursed" out of the taxpayer's pocket, of out of the pockets of their "special interests" and lobbyists. I wonder if they're being paid NOT to vote on important legislation that could mitigate the fuel crisis? You can add your name to a petition to protest this. Go to: (Grassfire)

Dems Don't Want to Pay THEIR OWN Gas Tax!

So they asked gullible Denver Mayor Hickenlooper to let them buy gasoline without paying the gas tax while they're in Denver for the convention. At first, he agreed, giving them a whopping reduction in the cost of their gasoline over what we all pay. Then when his action got such a violent reaction, he changed his mind--or the DNC thought better of asking, I don't know. In any case, the Democrats will pay the same prices at the pumps in Demver during the convention as we do. But you know it will end up with US paying for their gas and for all their other partying expenses, too. They already know who their nominee will be (unless Hillary and Bill manage to steal it), so why do they even NEED a convention? I guess it's so they can "party" for a month at our expense (which the Republicans also do). Frankly, I think it's all a "dog and pony show" to make us THINK such a complicated system id NEEDED. It's not. (Rocky Mountain News)

Iraq Heriosm Ignored by Press

Everybody knows who Zawahiri was, right? But do you know the name of the man who captured him? How about the man who launched the bomb that killed bin Laden early on in Afghanistan? The bomb, after which, no one has ever heard bin Laden's live voice?  Or the man who was seen capturing Saddam as he came out, under gunpoint, from his "spider-hole?" "The media would often misinterpret what were strategically insignificant rocket attacks on U.S. bases, while overlooking heavy days of fighting that ended badly for the insurgents. The reality is they [the insurgents] could never stage a massive attack against any of our bases, even the smaller ones. But anytime there was more than one rocket launched, you would read about how Baghdad is under attack, and I would just have to say to myself, ‘What are they talking about?’ ” But this is typical of the liberal press's handling of the Iraq "pacification (the "war" is long over)." Trying to Prove a Lie

The Senate Intelligence Committee spent five years "investigating" how George Bush got us into the Iraq war and came up with a completely predictable conclusion that Bush lied to use the "war on terror" as a cover for overthrowing Saddam (who, of course, was completely innocent, never mind his "rape rooms," his killing of thousands of his own people, USING "weapons of mass destruction," and his suppression of ANY dissent) This is such an obvious ploy to "demonize" the only politician who has "the courage of his convictions" it shouldn't even be mentioned. But unfortunately, people who don't pay attention to politics will believe the "majority opinion" and ignore the "minority opinion" that says this is an example of a partisan agenda which ignored completely Saddam's statements that he was building a stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. I might also talk about the 500 tons of "yellowcake" that were recently found in Iraq, but which the liberal media ignores. Liberals talk about all the money being spent on this "war" (which is no longer a war, that being won in a week, but a "pacification" of a country overrun with terrorists) but ignore the millions spent on this "going nowhere" investigation to prove a lie--theirs. Rush Listeners Better Informed

I didn't say that. PEW Research Center did and, wonder of wonders, the New York Times actually reported it (probably on page 240Z below the obits). But I still had to find out about it in a comic strip--and I'm not talking about one of the liberal-oriented strips that usually "tackle" political things. I found it in "Mallard Fillmore." Now he has written an apology that he wants signed by everybody he ever talked to at a cocktail party. (Mallard Fillmore/Seattle PI)

The 3,000 Mile Myth

How many times have you been told to "change your oil every 3,000 miles' with the unsaid threat that something bad might happen to your engine if you don't? That's what I've heard all my life, but I've never done it. And nothing bad ever happened to my engine because of poor lubrication. So why should I do it? Because "conventional wisdom" says I must. Unfortunately, "conventional wisdom" is usually wrong. The "3,000 mile myth" is a scam to increase sales of oil. That's it. The California Waste Management Board has launched a campaign to "Break the 3,000 mile myth," (Ray Thomas 101)
