In Great Britain, the government is in charge of
collecting the garbage, and they're doing a terrible job of it while treating
people who leave their garbage can lids like criminalso. Typically, when
government is in charge, they do a bad job, and just as typically, since they
have that power, they treat people who don't obey "every regulation"
like criminals. In this country, garbage collection is mainly in the hands of
private enterprise (with a few exceptions) and usually gets done quietly, with
little notice. But not where the government is in charge. They can't even pick
it up every week there. They've recently gone to an "every-other-week"
schedule, and can anybody do anything about it? No. It's "the
government," you see. Oppose them and they'll give you a big fine. Do you
wonder why we wanted to get out from under the "yoke" of British
governance? (Common Sense)
