Governments, all over the United States are stealing land from their constituents with alacrity. They get an offer from a "big box" store that will mean a higher "tax base," and they "condemn" the property, "take" it, and sell it at a low price to the "big box" store. They CLAIM that a "higher tax base" is a good reason for the "taking." It's not. Eminent Domain is intended for such things ar highway right-of-way when residents refuse to sell. It wasn't intended to increase the town's "tax base." that's patent theft, and the "lawmakers" make it easy for this theft to occur by making laws to allow it. Recently, in California (not surprising, since liberal Democrats run things there), they did it: "In a recent California election, two alleged property-protection measures were on the ballot. Proposition 98 was the real deal. Proposition 99 was the fake. Unfortunately, the phony measure was the one that passed. It was the measure that had by far the most advertising, being bankrolled (you guessed it) by land-grabbing special interests." That's how it is done. And if you're the victim, there's not a whole lot you can do about it--and it's spreading across the land, as many things that originate (good or bad) do in California. (
