No "Commutation" Wanted!

President Bush should not "commute" the sentence of former Border Patrol officers Compean and Ramos, who were jailed for more than TEN YEARS for doing their job! Yes, they DID "go against" a stupid policy that forced them to ASK PERMISSION before pursuing the smuggler, therefore allowing him to escape before it could be obtained. But does that merit TEN YEARS in prison and having their lives forever ruined by being convicted felons who can never work in law enforcement again? No. It might merit a few days without pay while "more intelligent heads" change the policy that is so stupid I shouldn't even have to mention it. If Bush "commutes" their sentence, they might get out of prison. But that "convicted felon" thing would remain and they could never work in law enforcement again, and could not vote in most states. He needs to give them a FULL PARDON and pay them back pay for the years they've spent in solitary confinement after other prisoners beat them unmercifully. No. Don't "commute" their sentences. Give them a full pardon so they can at least work in law enforcement. I understand the Border Patrol is having trouble recruiting people after this, and their part in the kidnapping of Elian Gonzalez and returning him to that Island prison in Cuba. Too bad.
