The New THOMA$ REPORT on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 6:02:24 PM
That’s the reason there have been so many filed against Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and others, such as Newt Gingrich at the height of his power. They’re easy to file and cost a lot of money to fight; and they are routinely used against a candidate by his/her opponents, true or not. I guess Palin thought if she resigned, the ethics complaints would stop. But this newest one shows that as long as she is a “force to be reckoned with” in Republican politics, they won’t. And now she hasn’t got the state to pay for her defense (although she now has an opportunity to earn [key word, “EARN”] millions). The latest one, a classic if insignificance, alleges that the media paid her for interviews. Who cares? Soon she will be a private citizen and they can pay her what they want, if they’re that stupid. But that’s one drawback in politics. You can’t file SUIT against an officeholder, but you can force him/her to pay a lot of money (usually paid for by taxpayers) to fight all those silly complaints. The latest one, filed by an Anchorage resident, was an obvious attempt to gain notoriety, since he/she immediately faxed a copy to a local television station. This is the 17th such complaint, and the second since she announced her resignation. Most have been dismissed as groundless, as will this one (Update: since this was originally written, there's a new complaint: that she got private donors to pay for her defense on previous complaints. What the hell for? the STATE was pauing for her defense, as is only right and lawful.). C’mawn, people! Get your heads out of your collective rear ends and leave this woman ALONE! You’re just showing how much truth-telling frightens you. (
